Not guaranteed? Look, if 10 life doesn't put you ahead of the other guy, you've already lost anyway. 5/5 for 6 used to be the standard curve, and tacking half of a full life total onto that is just absurd.

6 mana is a lot, especially since you're not guaranteed the 5/5. Still, it can easily win a game single-handedly.

90% of the time you get the Giant. If you don't get it, it's not worth it. That's why this card is really good in a life-gain deck.

This is a huge life gain, almost like a "gain an extra turn"... If you don't recover with this life gain, you've already lost. If you don't recover with this life gain and a 5/5, you've done something wrong... Nice card, I like it! A lot of advantage stacked in a single card!
I don't like Lorwyn-Morningtide block (I like Shadowmoor-Eventide much better), but it had some very good idea (and some broken, like the Faeries...)

Especially nice if you have a global lifegain enchantment, like True Conviction. Then the giant can help you keep your life high enough to summon another one!
