Apparently this is used to sacrifice elementals that got evoked before they evaporate, or at least, that's how I heard it. Does that work?

EDIT @tcollins: Before I put a bombo in my deck, I tried looking it up on cranial insertion. It appears it does work:

Q: Can I make a Burnt Offering out of an evoked Ingot Chewer? I've always heard you can't sacrifice something to two different effects.

A: You've heard right, but that won't stop you here! When you cast Chewie for his evoke cost, the sacrifice is part of a triggered ability that pops up when he enters the battlefield. You can respond with your Offering, and pay the cost of the offering by sacrificing him. You wouldn't be able to sacrifice him for any other costs, but the evoke sacrifice isn't a cost; it's an effect.

ehhh, nantuko husk for red? I give it a 1 because it can only be used to sac elementals. THe first strike is nice but it won't protected against burn or other damage spells like the husk.

@Tigt: No, I don't think this works, since the evoke ability states the creature is sacrificed as it enters the battlefield, and you cannot sacrifice a single permenant to gain two different effects. An example is:

I have a Ravenous Baloth and Culling Dais in play, you target my Ravenous Baloth with Doom Blade in response I could sacrifice it using Ravenous Baloth's own ability and gain 4 life or i can sacrifice it to Culling Dais and put a charge counter on Culling Dais. However i cannot sacrifice it for 4 life and put a charge counter on Culling Dais, since you can only gain one effect from sacrificing a permanent.

In the case of casting a creature for it's evoke cost, you're already sacrificing it (as part of the evoke mechanic) so you can't sacrifice it as it comes into play. However most of the evoke cards still have synergy with this card, since they often have abilities that result from them leaving play as well, such as Offalsnout.

paying 3 cmc for a 2/2 creature with a sac/boost ability in a decent tribal isn't awfull. But it really isn't that fun to sac all your creatures to boost a creature that doesn't even have evasion..

I could see this being used with something beefy and Elemental Mastery.
