I've got a better answer to the flavor text dilemma:
It's saying it's stupid to get rid of every colored pemanent JUST to get rid of this guy.
But it's sort of saying this guy is a huge threat, so you should give up if you play the card (not unlike many other cards).
So "don't race, guys, because you have to destroy everything else to get rid of this guy" is what's going down.
Then Doom Blade replaced Terror.

Or, more obviously, considering they're both of the Scarecrow tribal, play it alongside Painter's Servant. Also, I don't quite understand it's flippin' flavor text. Any savvy individuals care to elucidate this unelightened soul?
