This was the "poor man's Shriekmaw" for new players who didn't have enough Shriekmaws.
Obviously, the 'maw is better (more powerful creature and can be played in a cheap mode for only 1B), but this card still isn't bad in Limited or other slower formats.

What's nice about it is that as a fairie, there are so many fun shenanigans to be had, and especially with all of the color-shifting shenanigans of Shadowmoor and Eventide, you should have plenty of ways to get around that pesky little non-black clause. Scuttlemutt comes to mind.

Shriekmaws were already floating around at this time. They probably had to be careful with their other black removal cards. Anyway, this was a serviceable kill spell in a draft.

It's not really Terror. It's Dark Banishing plus 2 for a 1/1 Flyer. Good in Morningtide Limited, otherwise, meh.

This card is not as unbalanced as most people think, they say 2 mana for terror+ 1 mana for 1/1 flying fearie makes 3 mana, so why does it cost 5?
Well, first of all, it can kill artefact creatures, then, the fearie is black, andit can block, what usually costs 2, and the faerie actually gets flash, the spell beiing an instant.
Oh, and you can get this with the faerie harbinger

It's whether Terror nor Dark Banishing. It's Doom Blade.

Hey, it has some synergy in a deck containing Oona's Blackguard, and at instant speed too. That's at least something it has over Shriekmaw.
Also, hits artifact creatures.
