The thing is, this wasn't nearly enough to stop faeries, which had access to Thoughtseize, counterspells and especially Cryptic Command. It was an aggro deck with so much card advantage and control that puts most other decks to shame. Five-Colored Control eventually did, kind of, as they printed Cruel Ultimatum. Now look back at how ridiculous this card looked on paper.
