first off you can continuesly activate some of the nonbasic zendikar lands,
making a rampaging baloth get +4+4 for 2cmc or with a certain rampaging baloth get a 4-4 creature out every turn without fail for 2cmc!!

This is one of those cards with a lot of subtle uses.
When you first glance at it, it looks like anti-land destruction, and somewhat overpriced and clunky land destruction at that.
Then you realize that it lets you pull back your own land when you cast Armageddon. Or, even worse, Balance. Or Erhnam Djinn. Or to use your Land Tax. Or to get your landfall effects every single turn. Or to take advantage of the new lands with come-into-play effects, or to save a land-creature, or...
This card has a lot of uses. Granted, it's probably a bit too expensive for what it does nowadays (there are ways to bounce your lands without paying regular mana costs -- or you can just use Crucible of Worlds and let them die, which has even more uses), but it was a cool card back in the day.

You know how religion works, it's ok to have a cross in the art but not a pentagram. If Scientology ever ruled the world you may not even be allowed to have aliens in any game artwork.
