I agree - his tribe stinks. Even the best scarecrows are merely playable, while the worst provide overcosted powers to creatures of a color with better options (red gets haste for 2, green gets +1/1 for 3, WTF?). Waiting around for this one dude to come and turn the Jawbone Skulkin you're holding into a CMC1 Desert Twister with a 2/2 creature attached isn't really the most effective way to build a deck. And even though a splinter twined grim poppet is now giving you a puncture blast, a vindicate and a 5/5 attacker all at the same time, that time happens to be somewhere around turn nine, about five turns after the pestermite already grabbed the splinter twin and went infinite. Grrrr. Poor guy.

I think that his rotted pumpkin head is actually the expansion symbol.

My best friend in my favorite deck I've build, my pride and joy Scarecrow deck XD The minute I got a few copies of him, even before I had my set, I KNEW I wanted a scarecrow deck; he's a wrecking ball with the other scarecrows!! No need for cards like Doom Blade or Disenchant with this guy!

5/5 to him
hey he is not expensive at all if you know how to play him
on my artifact deck I put him on the field early as turn 3
you just need lands of 3 diferent colours and a pentad prism thats easy

other nice scarecrows:
Scarecrone; bring back artifact creatures from graveyard and lets you sacrifice scarecrows for a free draw
Heap Doll; cheap at least, sacrifice it by itself to get something out of game from a graveyard, or use the scarecrone and get a free draw.
Painter's Servant ; good and cheap defender, and it adds the color of your choosing to anything that comes out into play after him. get some southern/northern/eastern/western paladins along with him and you'll become target #1 :)

Should work well with Open the Vaults, which you could combine with something like Firespout, to kill your low toughness scarecrows and then bring them back, and hopefully wiping the opponent's side of the board in the process.

Anyone looking for a general for their changeling deck, this is him. All five colors, P/T boost, decent stats and destroys a permanent with every creature you summon.
