Agreed with Mode.
By the time I end up being able to get this online, I'm usually drawing WAY too many cards

Can provide huge card draw, although you'd sometimes wish to be able to draw a card up to each creature you control only.

It's not too overpriced considering how long it usually takes to get an empty hand.

One word.
Vedalken.
Grand Architect, Vedalken Engineer, Etherium Sculptor.
All of them help cast or activate the ability and if you are running an Vedalken tribal with a smattering of artifacts you can also run Master of Etherium and Filigree Sages to spice things up.

It's funny how there's so many cards where the flavour text is written by some of the most pretentious and ***y people, and it's always a Wizard of some sort who said it.
Jace Beleran, Ertai, Wizard Adept (also see Counterspell, Tempest version), Ambassador Laquatus (Oh, don't worry: he knows HE'S the player and YOU'RE the pawn), Heidar...
Ok, Heidar is a little obscure, but you get the picture...

I'm fine with discarding a card or two that I don't need at a specific time. With a solid deck, most cards should interact well with others so discarding the less useful ones shouldn't be a problem.

Put 3 of these in my Elf deck. The thing friggin' explodes onto the battlefield now! Just use the ability in response to Wrath effects and you're golden.
