Surprised no one has mentioned the amazingly brutal art. From the moment I first saw it, the image has stuck with me, and I don't know if there is a more gory card out there.

Quite possibly one of the most horrible ways to die ever depicted on a Magic card. Except it doesn't kill you. Which makes it even worse.

I disagree. Banewasp Affliction is better than Creature Bond, simply because it is black. Black has access to a lot more creature removal, and this card - in combination with a removal spell, is low mana cost direct damage. It's card disadvantage, but depending on the size of your opponent's creatures, it might be worth it anyway.

Strictly worse than death watch.

A lot of people are looking at this and thinking "wow, terrible enchantment" instead of "hey, Lava Axe only costs if I do it right".

Effective against devour decks, methinks.

It's okay, IF your opponent plays with the big fat kind of creatures. I'll only want to play this once I know I can at least get a 4/5 life deal out of it, really.

good vs walls / defenders
i really think you guys underrate the power of this card in a creature-removal heavy deck.

Way underrated. With all of the mana acceleration and super-burly creatures out there, this little enchantment can win you the game. Drop this on a creature wearing Blanchwood Armor and then Doom Blade his ass.
Worse case scenario you make your opponent sweat a bit and hang back with a creature that he would normally attack with.
This also combos very well if you have any creatures with Deathtouch. His 11/11 trampler is a hell of a lot less likely to attack if you're sitting there with a Giant Scorpion.
Also, I agree with SoulDescend; this is possibly the most brutal art I've ever seen on a magic card... it is disgusting.
4/5
