What happens if you target the Splinter token that Splintering Wind makes and you search for the Kamigawa artifact hate instant Splinter? Does this actually put the instant card into play??

Yes you can. The card's never stated that you can't only search for more than one. It said "five permanents", so in turn, you can even search for 4 lands and Progenitus for all we care.
Quazlor you are incorrect. The card says "same name" FOOL. I am fully aware of the legendary rule.

Would be a lot more powerful (not to mention usable in Commander) if it searched for permanents that shared a type with that permanent. Then again, that would be overpowered.
I suspect Allies or Slivers would be good with this.

Allies, landfall, Slivers with cumulative effects, those Kamigawa 'Star' Dragons, Amulet of Vigor, this Ultimatum goes well with a lot of stuff.

I don't know why this card is being compared to titanic ultimatum at all.. I run a deck with two titanic ultimatums and they frankly aren't that easy to play, you have to at least have multiple creatures worth playing it on and I have had a few games where someone plays naya charm or some other tap all creatures ability right after I use it. It has the potential to be big, but is iffy in actual practice. The two best ultimatums are easily violent ultimatum, and cruel ultimatum. Violent ultimatum because killing three permanents is a lot of card advantage, and it includes planeswalkers, enchantments, and artifacts. It's truly a catch all spell that is never bad, as in unless your 1 life from death and its not enough to save you, killing three of your opponents permanents is always good. Cruel ultimatum by comparison is just plain overpowered and slightly unfair, even if it doesn't cause the person its played against to lose that much (maybe they sac a thrinax or have no cards in ha... (see all)

What!! I thought this was going to be more well liked by everyone. I've used this card and it has been crazy awesome! i always use it to bring out more exalted creatures, and then attack with jhessian infiltrator. Think about it, everyone is saying it sucks because they come into play tapped, but you should be able to bring out a bunch of exalted creatures and then finish with the kill. Personally, in Bant I think Jhessian Infiltrators, and Whispersilk cloak/Canopy Cover (something along those lines) should be put into Bant, so you can attack with that one creature for 8 or whatever and not have to be chump blocked.

Titanic ultimatum is pretty much a game ender if your opponent does not prevent combat damage. I think this one should at least let you bring your permanents untapped. Especially with Royal Assassin on the loose!
