Part of a running super-cycle of terrible black commons that cost 5B or 4BB. Basically, if you see a common black creature that costs 6 mana, it'll probably be something horrible like this thing, Bog Hoodlums, Ashenmoor Cohort, etc.

Common Grixis creatures tend to be useless. See Shore Snapper, Dreg Reaver, Skeletal Kathari, and, of course, the famous Viashino Skeleton.

This is much better than Viashino Skeleton, because it actually has a niche, albeit only a casual niche. Use this with Soldevi Adnate.
