+5/+5 is fine with me, with an equip cost of 3.
I have a soft spot for equipment, though.
Seriously, can you think of any equipment that gives you better value than +5/+5 for that cost?
Opaline bracers requires some major support to be significantly better, while this is an awesome equipment for the mana-heavy area that is domain.

You've clearly don't know that any permanent with counters on it has unlimited potential. Even before this card came out there was doubling season, coretapper, energy chamber, and Gilder Bairn just to name the more popular choices. And at the time I'm posting this there is even Proliferate. So not only can you play the Opaline Bracers in a mono-color deck and still have it end up more powerful than this card, but it costs 
less to equip than this does. What you said is totally wrong, this card caps at 5 and is limited, the bracers are limitless (due to peoples' ability to manipulate counters) and still generally useless due to their gimmicky nature.
