One of the few useful Homelands cards. Aside from its obvious use as a hoser for tribal decks, this card isn't even that bad against normal opponents -- almost any deck is going to have a creature it runs four of, if nothing else.

Even against just one creature, this is non-targeted nullification that also ensures that any other copies of the creature in their deck will be nullified. And since the rise of shroud and hexproof, this card has gotten a bit better since it was published.

This card wasn't so useful at the time it came out, I never played it. Back then, people very rarely ran creature-type decks; the options just weren't there. And when they did, the creature type probably made up only half the deck's creatures at most, and the rest were rounded out with other types for balance. Playing this card was a big risk, and I think it's been largely forgotten as a result, given how ineffective it was at its time of creation.

But this card has only gotten better and better over the years. Nowadays, as the game has become more creature-driven, it can have a major shut-down effect on all kinds of decks, and nearly all decks in casual. You don't even need combo power for this card to majorly tip the game in your favor, it can be slipped into nearly any red-primary deck for big results.

Also interesting from an historical perspective, given red's recent resurgence as a control color.

I'm sorry but cards like this are just horrible for the game. They would never see constructed, so they're just there to spoil casual good times. Theme decks are almost always weaker by definition and are made for fun, why make cards specifically to destroy them?

Just my two cents: play a wrath instead of this and call it good.
