Great flavor in the sacrifice ability--the sacrificed creature becomes the skeletons--and an introduction to card disadvantage that can sometimes be worth it. And is that a nod to Dregs of Sorrow in the flavor text? Was that in the original Ice Age printing?

Yes the original Ice Age version bore the same flavor text. Back when Ice Age/Alliances were new I ran a U/B control deck, with these in it. I would typically Ray of Command one of your creatures, then after smacking you with it, I would sac it to the Kjeldoran Dead. Even more fun when I already had a False Demise on your creature before hitting it with Ray of Command.

The original Ice Age flavor text just said "They shall kill those whom once they loved." I liked that version better because it was just cruel without the unnecessary attempt at being poetic.

Comboes with fellow Reassembling Skeleton.

Easy regenerating 3 damage for 1 mana is not too shabby.

best to cast on turn 2 anyway* given that you want some mana to regen this guy. Try and use tokens, Gravecrawler, or some such. Bitterblossom and duress from a dark ritual into this guy second turn should be strong from an aggro standpoint. Nuke their hand for the problem removal (enchant or creature, depending) and push this guy out.

Also fine with cards that give replacements, or draw/discard when they die. Consider creatures that have beneficial effects when they die.
