If you want to play 5 color EDH, and don't want to be forced into a theme (slivers, atogs, elementals or dragons), then this is far and away the best choice.
That's kinda sad really.

Lol, nonland card. Like anyone's using this for mana accel. A deck that combos this would probably be awkward and vulnerable, but if it's just an attack creature (in a deck that happens to be pentacolored anyway...yeah...) it can be quite amazing. Primarily a casual card, but there's probably some deck that can use it.

I noticed this wasn't discussed here, but I have a thought on making this card work even faster:
Notice it says "whenever it deals combat damage to a player", my thought is if you give Maelstrom Archangel double strike, you can play 2 spells for free in one turn instead! After all, double strike says creatures deal their first strike damage first, then their normal combat damage, plus they mention a separate damage step altogether anyway. Basically, 2 instances of combat dmg = 2 free spells in one turn! combine that with something like Waves of Aggression and you could really dish stuff out!
The only thing that may bother some players is the 5 color cost, otherwise this card is awesome!

Nice card but without haste it simply says "kill me!" - it is going to attract any point removal because its far too dangerous to risk a hit. Now if it survives.............

this card can also be used to bring out those pesky 6 or more mana cost creatures, and can be used quite efficiently in an angel deck. addedly, it's also good with charnelhoard wurm, who has trample and returns cards from your graveyard to your hand. the combo basically allows you to bring cards from your graveyard into play for free

its in a planeswalker deck of mine and YES its Great when you swing then drop a Planeswalker for free and then with the left over mana play another Planeswalker.
Is there anything this card cant do? :P
