i started an exalted deck hoping to eventually get rafiq of the many and battlegrace angel but so far this guy is the hotshot of my deck. he is vey good for defence and my opponents think twice before attacking. will i let it through and kill their creature, or be afraid of taking the hit and block? with rhox war monk, taking damage is unimportant and so i usually end up killing their creatures without much damage to myself. hmmm..... all i need now for my deck is rhox war monk.

I love the design and art on this card. In the limited environment this really shines, I really doubt he'll do much for constructed T2 with this situational removal and the fact that his casting cost competes with Rhox War Monk. Awesome regardless.

Reminds me of Royal Assassin, No Mercy, and Dread, which is weird, considering that all of those are solid black and this card is colored with white and its allied colors. It feels as though if you replaced exalted with unearth and changed its colors accordingly, this card would fit perfectly in Grixis. Weird flavor, good card.

Giltspire Avenger is one of my latest addition to my bant deck. I realized that in a bant deck you got to have some sort of defense when your opponent is attacking you. Wall Of Denial will be great but no exalted, even though it has shroud/flying. With Giltspre Avenger I can destroy a creature that's dangerous to my creatures and to my self. On the other hand, Wall Of Denial has to keep blocking. Downside is that i can only destroy that creature when it deals me damage, but with Rhox War Monk taking damage is not a big deal, especially in a bant deck.
Giltspire Avenger gets rid of creatures while Qasali Pridemage gets rid of enchantments and artifacts, and you still have your exalted going. Talk about defense... All you have to worry about are," instants, plainswalkers, sorceries", but with the help of Bant Charm and Oblivion Ring or Celestial Purge in some cases, you are pretty much cover.
Things that you should be in look out for are things like Volcanic Fallout, Infest, a... (see all)

he's the almost perfect solution to trample. you can use another monster to take the trample damage, then kill it conveiniently with giltspire. it's also exalted, which goes perfectly with an exalted style of play, the kind with those first strikers and life linkers and such.

Nice defensive card for Bant decks. This card actually combos well with Snakeform and Cenn's Tactician, making it even harder for your opponent to kill you. Although the Avenger is a great card most Bant decks work better in aggresive strateties rather than defensive ones. And unlike the card Dread, the Avenger can't attack for 6 with fear, and is limited to killing one creature per turn.
