50% chance of killing your opponents favorite card or 'that one they're waiting for'. On the other hand, it's a 50% chance of getting it to them faster, but that's a far stretch of optimism. This spell is just plain murder, to Timmies and Johnnies alike.

Archive trap is better unless you're trying to mill someone using a really large deck (like EDH or some crazy battle of wits deck). Instant speed is the biggest factor; however being able to cast it for free if they use a fetchland or tutor card, as well as comboing well with path to exile, is a great bonus. Remember that traumatize can never actually kill off an opponent, and that once his library hits less than 26 cards, archive trap actually mills for more.
Many people here don't understand the difference between sorcery and instant, especially for blue. If they do tap out on turn 5, they're going to be playing cards like time warp, morphling, or meloku, or even mind control. This is because those cards will have an immediate effect on the battlefield. Traumatize does not.

my cousin has an addiction to playing decks with 80 or so cards. no matter what we tell him, he doesn't see the disadvantage to keeping to the minimum. i would love to play this on him once or twice, just to say i got so much out of it.
