Oh man, among the best Flavor texts ever! It does however have potential, when in unison with casting cost spell activators 5 plus, especially in a Zombie deck, however, so many better ways to spend that mana...

Flavor text makes this card... 1.5 for me.
Replaced by the wholly better Rotting Legion already. Maybe if you needed a Zombie to be a Giant at the same time, it would be useful.

Dreg reaver is stirctly better as beast has better support cards then giant.

Unless you have a Zombie tribal deck you're better off with the more recent Nether Horror, and believe me I never thought I'd write that sentence.

They changed Dreg Reaver to Mr. Goliath here because they thought a Zombie would be more identifiable and resonant than a Reaver. Wizards wanted M10 to be a good intro to what people who aren't too familiar with fantasy already know about it, like zombies, centaurs, and simple yet powerful spell concepts like Lightning Bolt, Sleep, and Rise from the Grave...the chances are simply better that a layman will latch onto the idea of a giant zombie than that of a Dreg Reaver.
Either way, though, it doesn't really matter, as the pair of them are pretty much worthless outside of Limited.
