I had one of these in my M10 prerelease sealed pool. I ended at least 5 games with a fireball to the head. At least twice, I had a fireball split for 2 damage to two targets. Blaze is more elegant.
Rolling Thunder did this type of effect better IMO. Maybe make a Blaze with a kicker cost for damage division?

I just don't seem to get this card to work. Ya it has a lot of potential, but my mana is never ready for it, and I have cheaper ways of killing and dealing damage.

Can you target the same creature/player more than once? Possible reasons:
-creature has "whenever this creature becomes the target of a spell or ability" triggered ability
-target a player more than once in order to direct some damage to the player and some to a planeswalker he or she controls.

This + Wirewood Channeler + Pemmin's Aura = uber-rape. One time I ran into somebody who used that trick to Fireball everybody for 20 life; only 2 people survived.

A good burn deck will use urzatron to fuel it's insanely large fireballs and disentegrates, etc.

Turn 1, Put down Forest, cast Llanowar Elves 
(Tap for )
Turn 2, Put down Mountain, cast Lighting Bolt 
or Incinerate 
to do 3 damage to your opponent.
Turn 3, Cast Channel , convert 17 life to 17 mana, play Fireball 
for 17 damage. You 3 life, opponent zero.
OK, so Channel is restricted or banned is some formats and it always is a risk against blue counter decks but, I tells ya, nothing beats that feeling of incincibility when it all comes together. Mwah-ha-ha-ha-haaaaa!
