Who uses planeswalker SOLELY for its large minus ability? The whole reason planeswalkers are so dangerous is because they are incredibly flexible. Garuuk gives you a mana advantage OR more creatures. Jace, the Mind Sculptor gives you Brainstorm OR Unsummon. You can't blindly use a planeswalker's plus abilities to try to reach its final ability. Smart players will just wait until you have 7 counters on Chandra Ablaze, and then drop an Oblivion Ring or a Vampire Hexmage and take out your planeswalker. You have to consider all the possible uses of the planeswalkers. Jace Beleren is amazing for mill, and good at long-term card advantage, making him ideal for control decks and 2-Headed Giant. If you only care about playing aggressively, go look at Sarkhan Vol.

Also, on the note of 2-Headed Giant games, Jace is overpowered beyond belief, since mill decks are twice as effective in 2-Headed Giant (you only have to mill one person out to win), and he feeds your partner extra cards.

notice how deceptive jace is. so blue in so many ways.

he looks not too harmfull to your opponent by giving a card with his +2 ability but infact he is a deadly enemy.

Jace is ridiculous. He can come out on turn 3, go up to 5 loyalty, and leave your opponent with the horrible choice of going for him, and wasting valuable burn/removal/attacking time (and if, they do this, don't underestimate the +2: it's card neutral and means they can waste a lot of burn trying to kill him), or accepting that you are going to be drawing through your deck at double the regular rate while they only get an extra card once every 3 turns. He just IS card advantage, and for classic blue control he feeds you the answers to threats at silly pace. Great synergy with sphinx of jwar isle, and since he almost guarantees you mana every turn, big bombs like a kicked rite of replication become easier to get to. A very, very nasty card, and that's even before his potential in mill decks, where I haven't tried him yet but the potential is obvious. Landfall too...

The Mind Sculptor is obviously a very powerful card, but he's more about direct board control , whereas Berelen is more... (see all)

It seems as though the +2 ability would be more efficient if you had lots of 2-for-1s in your deck like Sea Gate Oracle and Spreading Seas.

Card Advantage
{1UU}
Planeswalker- Card Advantage
+2: Game goes faster.
-1: Card Advantage.
-10: Don't activate this ability. It doesn't do anything.

I feel bad for everyone who thinks the -10 ability is useless because in things like my depletion deck (where the goal is not to attack but to bring his library down to zero and defend yourself) this move comes in handy.... Very handy....
