Gideon Jura makes this much tastier, but even without him, this can perform well against WW and token decks.

A pretty good sideboard card against Kuldotha red.
On turn two (or three), your opponent attacks with a
signal pest, 3 kuldotha rebirthed goblins, and a kicked goblin bushwhacker.
You pay the alternate 1w casting cost and instead of taking 13 damage, you take none and kill all five attackers.
Narrow in use, but effective.

White damage spells are strange. Against 5 creatures most likely Rain of Blades will do the job.

The non-trap mana cost is just really high... I thought it would be very good in limited because it's removal and can potentially take out multiple creatures, but when I've actually played it, it has not met my expectations. Still not terrible for limited, but it is the worst removal I can think of in Zendikar. Once I did use it's trap cost and kill 5 creatures, but 4 of those were from Cobra Trap, and a Seismic Shudder would have done just as well.

On second thought, this is probably marginally better than Spire Barrage, until you're using mono-red.

Four or more creatures is rather steep. Although, even hard casted, this card is decent. Very early pick in limited.

Most of the trap cards seem to be nearly last resorts if the trap isn't triggered.

its a powerful card, can kill a lot of things, but rudder is right, the things you are often going to take down will be in range of blanket pings, this is a card that can be used to stop a bunch of shrines and ball lightings and hellspark elementals and elemental appeals

dont forget, for 4(2 of these) you can deal 10 dmg

This card is decent at best, because you're usually not attacked by that many creatures, but if you get to use this card, you can clear the field a little bit.
