Just about the only way to stop this is mindbreak trap.

EDIT: Or you can just make time stop.

After freaking out for a little while about how unfair this card looks, I began to realize three things.

1) Hardly anyone will ever be able to hard cast this, so time walking doesn't matter.

2) Even with protection, several things will stop this card from a simple oblivion ring or journey to nowhere, to drana or kalitas bloodchief ability. It can still die to wrath's/day of judgement, and sac. affects like consuming vapors, so maybe not as hard to get rid of as it seems.

3) I can win the game before this ever sees play, in extended there's already several turn 3 wins (hyper gen really didn't need this card since it worked already), and in standard aggro creatures kill an opponent before they have 15 mana.

All in all, I am more impressed by ulamog, with his basic indestructibility, and enter play vindication/maelstrom pulse. Plus he is more cost efficient.

However, on the death touch note.. this creature has to be blocked and still takes 6 permanents, for a total of 7... (see all)

There are a lot of other creatures that can stop this one. Also, pull one of these out in a multiplayer game and probably everyone will focus their attention on you. I wouldn't use it as a creature, I would use it for the Beacon of Tomorrow/Reminisce ability it has. I think its more useful when cycled through a deck to create some sort of time loop

When first seeing this, I thought it was an absolutely devastating card. However, now that I look more into it, its not as broken as I thought it was. I think it can do well in standard. In vintage and legacy (what I play) and even extended, this card can definitely come out even faster. However do to the sheer amount of cards available in vintage and legacy, most players would probably lose before this card can even get out. Even with my deck, I can defeat players by turn 4.

The only answer I could think of for a mill deck would be to get a lucky Telemin Performance off and take the super huge eldrazi for yourself. The other thing that may help said mill deck is to use Bojuka Bog and exile that graveyard before Emrakul can recycle it. Another answer I have not seen mentioned is simply Clone him, but by that time he probably swung on you and took out a lot of your permanents.

for some reason, Emrakul's the only Eldrazi that i've considered buying.

Annihilator 6... seriously? Not that annihilator isn't the most unfair and overpowered game mechanic in this block... but annihilator is the most unfair and overpowered game mechanic in this block.

The thing that really gets me is that you can just put this guy out with an Elvish Piper or Dramatic Entrance and the only ill effect to you is that you don't get an extra turn. A turn-five 15/15 flyer that can't be countered, and has annihilator 6 is just a little bit stupid.

From what I understand this is replacing Progenitus as the win condition for Polymorph decks. My friend built one recently, with this as the only creature, token producers for the morph fodder, and a bunch of counters to protect the combo. Of course the problem with such a deck is that even my sloppily constructed red/green Allies deck rolls right over it if he doesn't manage to pull his combo off by the fifth turn. Conversely, on the occasions he does manage to get it out and attack with it, it's pretty much game over.

I've been thinking of other ways to deal with this guy other than the obvious one of killing the opponent before he gets it in play. In standard, there are several options, such as Day of Judgment or Planar Cleansing, which, ironically, his weaker brother Ulamog would be immune to. Sarkhan the Mad can turn him into a harmless 5/5 dragon, but Sarkhan Vol... (see all)

Well, that bad effect on mill decks is not new. It just makes Hypergenesis and something else (oh yes) very strong. And Time Stop can counter ist btw (like everything if it does not have split second)
