Storm Crow is no match for the -1/-1 Proliferate combo!

This is not just about proliferating. This is a colorless kill spell! Knocks down Birds of Paradise, Renegade Doppelganger, Plated Geopede, Vampire Hexmage, Elite Vanguard. If you ever use it to proliferate, it starts being a 2-for-1. You can always side it out (or not-in) for Valakut/Titan.

Maybe run in a modern Elf deck? Joraga Warcaller and Oran-Rief the Vastwood say hi!
It gives removal, something elves don't have easily, combined with crazy-huge elves from the Warcaller

it's true environment is being surrounded by lots of artifacts that like charge counters. I play a dedicated proliferate deck at my FNM standard tournaments, and I find that the clasps are good for tiding you over until you get out the contagion engine or some other bomb. The 4 cost is painfully high, but on the other hand it's really hard to get rid of. Thrummingbird bites the dust rather easily, but the clasp actually kills an opponent's creature. If you have out an everflowing chalice, after the first few times the proliferate almost pays for itself--especially if you have multiple chalices. Overall, I couldn't run my proliferate deck successfully without these; they're a staple.
But yeah, poison and -1/1 counters... not the best use for proliferate. Definitely charge counters and loyalty counters... really need to get my hands on the new tezzeret!

I use this and contagion engine. I have 10 infect creatures in my current deck and everything is built around a couple of counters on the player and throwing out mana for proliferate - i dont worry too much about the creatures and chump block (regen viper) alot of them by the point i can bring the engine out - then its a proliferate or 2 on the player to reach 10 infect counters - win!
As long as you dont mind chump blocking you can pretty much ensure the win. When the next set with the new infect creatures comes out it'll be a very strong strategy with some big creatures to push in the end game.

Not suprising that it is effective with the original Contagion.
Yes this is absolutely about the Killing side of the card. Makes mono-blue control have a way of getting rid of annoyances that slipped under your scope for instance.

best used for proliferate through Throne of Geth
and if you are desperate enough, you can always pay the 4 for a proliferate ;)

Turn two Clasp your guy, turn three Tumble Magnet your next guy (forever) is pretty great, even in Standard Constructed. In Limited or Block it's one of the best sequences of play.

@StevenF: No, proliferating the counters on your planeswalker does not activate its +1 ability. You have to actually use the planeswalker's ability to do that. Proliferating would simply increase the number of counters with no other effect. Not that doing so is a bad thing, since the more counters the planeswalker has, the better off you are in almost any scenario. It gets you one step closer to using the ultimate ability, or simply gives your planeswalker one more point of damage he can absorb.
