now THIS is what a mythic should be like...plenty of options, one that you actually have to think about before you use it...not like baneslayer. baneslayer was just overpowered. like how plat angel might give you a false sense of security, this guy's effect usually makes your opponent unwilling to kill it, so you can just blow ur opponent to 0 life and destroy it...and its not very hard to do that with a 6/6 flying trample body...

Forget the drawback, you're playing black. It doesn't count.
And he's hardly broken, people. With the same CMC as Jace he doesn't get much of the limelight, but in IMO he's almost as powerful. Black needs other strong cards in standard though, just this and Vampire Nighthawk unfortunately isn't enough.
5/5 for useful mythic which I actually own. Was in the same box as Jace too (:

This thing is really great, just save a Gatekeeper of Malakir to get rid of him after you knock your opponent under 0 life. Only thing I don't like is in multi-player people can't knock out other players, meaning people may shift their focus to you if they can't knock out anyone else.

I agree with you completely, however any hopes of them getting rid of the mythic rarity would require a miracle at the least. It sucks to see how i'm unable to get some cards i'd love to have in my deck, simply because I don't want to spend $100 on 4 copies of a card.

BlACK players wouldn't mind of his setbacks (nor should they worry as long as they remember to have the sacrificing mechanics), because our attention would all be drawn in his cheap cost of 2BB, making a flying/trample 6/6. He sets people's ass on fire.

Best story with this card ever.
9 life, opponent at 12. He cast Abyssal, I in turn enslaved him with Sower of Temptation. He has a fat 6/6 demon and a 5/5 Quest for the Gravelord zombie out, but nothing with flying. I have Abyssal, the Sower, Wydwen, the Biting Gale, and a horde of Bitterblossom tokens.
It went something like this...
"So, you've got no flyers, right?" I asked, eyeing my board. I had around 16 worth of power total, so I could reserve some chump blockers for his demons if anything went wrong.
"Yeah," he answered, "but you've got Abyssal. I can't lose and you can't win." At this point, I guess he figures I'm done for if he draws into anything to take out my board. And he knows I can't get rid of Abyssal by killing it myself, since my deck has only 4 cards worth of spot removal, all Doom Blades.
I looked at my hand and smiled.
