faithless looting, past in flames and seething song make a great interaction with this. So do staggershock and volt charge, both get you two counters if they are cast while it's respective copy is in the grave, and both are 2R instant burns.

On a multiplayer level, be a real jerk and splash black for blood tithe, syphon mind and skull rend and your choice of tutors to find them. guttersnipe optional.

I didn't see anyone mention cards with Flashback. Assuming card filtering/drawing etc.. like a "Cast spells" deck i run has (think twice, faithless looting, etc..) it already gets multiples of the same spells easily, let alone considering you could filter copies into the graveyard and flashback them later to power this up.

Rebound is also good palls with this, as well as Retrace.

What about storm ability.

If you have it charged, and play a brain freeze
and then twincast it.

Would it be 3 + 6 + 9 + 12 for a total of 30 cards ?

Am I the only one who thought putting this with Cipher would be an amazing idea? I think I'm going to put together a Grixis Cipher deck with a couple of these in it.

I had just built my infinite merfolk deck, headed to friday night magic, and sat down with one of the stronger players there. I got the perfect hand. Stonybrook schoolmaster, Intruder Alarm, and Paradise Mantle all out on turn three due to a little ramping, and yet, of course my opponent was playing his pyromancer's ascension deck. My opponent had one turn to win, as I had infinite 1/1 tokens. He took a deep breath, and began working. After a ten minute turn, he hit me with 75 points of damage with Banefire. I was amazed by the loss. 5/5

If I discard a Wild Guess as part of the additional cost of casting a Wild Guess, does the ascension get a counter?
