Yea, he sure does suck. Remember playing Asceticism 3 turns ago? Terrible damn card. Especially for multiplayer casual.

@Razmataz24: I don't believe I saw the word "Elf" anywhere in the text of this card. Try again.

My inner Timmy is conflicted... On the one hand, it makes my creatures bigger, but on the other hand, its 1/1... You can use its ability on itself? Awesome!

Alot of you say 8cmc is alot, but you have to remember that your dealing with green. Green decks can go from 3 lands to 9 in a single turn. And if you slap a Canaopy Cover on him youve got a force to be reckoned with.

If you leave 1 mana open it's a 7/7 and immune to Lightning Bolt. Think of it as a 7/7 for 9 mana rather than a 1/1 for 8.
But, 9 mana is a lot. That's Iona, Shield of Emeria level, or Eldrazi level.

This can kick butt if you put any umbra on him. Especially eel umbra. Waste those lightning bolts/shock/burst lightnings!

Anyone who says "Oh, just bolt him." is not paying attention. Very underrated card. I would sacrifice those precious Eldrazi Spawn to bring this guy out and somehow always keep one mana open in case there was burn coming my way. This card won me so many limited games due to an army of 7/7 Eldrazi Spawn. 4.5/5

People make it sound like there is no possibly way to protect this guy as a 1/1... what? Give him shroud, enchantments, umbras, equipment... whatever! The guy can make your army GIGANTIC at an incredible pace.
He is at least a 4/5 based off of threat potential. He is a 50/5 for flavor. The picture may be my favorite in the history of the card game... I LOVE the praying mantis sticking his head into the top of the picture.
5/5
