If it had been able to add mana with which to cast artifact spells, it would have been a very respectable card for it's time. If only...

It's tempting to try and figure out a way to use this with one of the many artifacts whose activation cost is higher than the cost to play it... but the 2 mana it provides probably isn't enough acceleration to make the effort worthwhile.
