Ah yes, Serra Angel, I still use four of them. Baneslayer Angel just doesn't fit into my angel tribal deck as well when I'm playing Stoic Angel.

Hung up on the cleavage huh? 10th art is more visually apealing and one of the few cards I visualize when I think of white. But you were right about 7th, that was just bad.

I agree with you, Wizards shouldn't be afraid to use this type of art instead of the new stuff you see in new phyrexia and other new sets. But I guess the new art is easier accepted.
I like Don Hazeltine :)

simply breathtaking. this image is eloquent and full of beauty, and is most deserving of a 5/5 on those merits alone. this is also a very good case for keeping art as it is, and not trying to 'update' it. compare this card's artwork to the 7th edition, serra angel, where she is turned into an adolescent girl with none of the style or grace. also compare with 10th edition, serra angel. oh sure it looks 'neat', but it's heavily computer-generated and easily forgotten amidst the other blase 'artwork' that seems to proliferate nowadays.

The most iconic art on a magic card for me (vesuvan doppelganger comes close) mostly because i've been a white/blue mage since the beginning and i've easily got more mileage out of this angel than any other creature in magic. She ruled the skies for a good 6 years straight.
Only thing I never liked was the wooden sword.
