@Noobmag: Unfortunately, you're quite correct. If it was just 2 mana for 5 damage against a white or blue creature it would be pretty balanced. The no prevention pushed it a little far, the no countering pushed it well over the edge to powercreep. A few things could have been done to make this card less powerful but no less sideboard material for tournaments where Mythic sees play with its 4x Baneslayer Angels running over your dragons. I'm glad to see a red answer to BA, but I wish it could have been more balanced for what it gives.
Red's color hoser needed the "can't be countered" and "can't be prevented" clauses, or otherwise it would be complete garbage compared to what the other colors got. In fact the only decks that would run it is monored and that's because they have nothing better to do, while with these clauses something like a jund deck might run this over doom blade.
-White's color hoser costs 2 mana, but hits ANY permanent, and not just that it's exiled.
-Black's... (see all)

This is definitely a sideboard card, but it's an amazingly efficient one. It will be in every Red deck's sideboard for as long as it's legal.

No, Spags, I am afraid this does not rid red of the firewalker. (Sadly.)
Protection does not "counter" anything. It merely keeps it from being targeted, meaning you cannot choose firewalker as a target.

That horse is amazingly undisturbed by the fact his head has just exploded so violently.
Either way, this card rocks hard for Red. There's barely a blue control deck creature this won't kill (ones without shroud anyway), and funnily enough, it'll drop Bankslayer for two mana. Swish.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned what this card can do to a Gideon Jura that has used its third ability.
"Oh so you want to attack me? Well let's hope you have all of your loyalty counters left..."

Definite powerhouse, but I wouldn't say its that broken...
Blue can still technically respond... although the choices are limited and you may need fodder:
Redirect / Unsummon
Swerve / Curfew / Venser, Shaper Savant
... but you can respond
Or splash green and add Vines of Vastwood which is an amazing response to pretty much any constructed creature removal. There is ways to deal with Combust.... But it is quite strong. 5/5
Hey maybe we should thank Wizards for making cards like this one... blue control decks have dominated the tournament formats for how many years now? Cards like this might entice people into constructing something they enjoy playing as opposed to running into so many mirror control matches in tournies... Maybe its just me, but I don't see any original skill in going to a tournment, and sure maybe you win, but your deck was the s... (see all)

Wizards are cruel against monored burn, We finally get a 5 damage spell, and now standard is flooded with titans and wurmcoil engines with toughness 6.

Yes, it does get around Frost Titan's barrier, although you'll need to ping for one to finish the job.
