This card is ridiculously underrated, as far as I see it. For one more mana than a Thran Foundry, you get a reusable "Feldon's Cane" effect with the bonus of a 5 point life boost? So if it were me I would be using this to shuffle all of my removal back in after I've used up enough of it, and then use something like Jace TMS to pull that removal back into my hand.... over and over and over again... throw in the life gain as padding, and this seems really solid. What's not to like?!

Thomasbchillin: Trinket Mage should have been legendary! I could write novels about his adventures. Here's to hoping they reprint it this fall.

@Majinara: It depends on the deck you're playing. If you have lots of Instants and Sorceries that don't really matter late game, then it's not as good. But if you're playing with mostly permanents and a few game-changing Sorceries/Instants (or lots of card draw spells) then it helps you reload your bullets, thin out your deck, and gain 5 life to boot. Just avoid using it with Fetchlands.

Umm...Majinara, this is still fairly good. It fries mill, and Dregrage, Emrakuls are so stupid, they're banned at my local Magic store. Who cares about Emrakul. Its trash. I hate it.
Though not many people play mill anyways. Especially since there is so much anti-mill floating around right now.

HELP!!! extremely broken if this works
Using Voltaic Key in Response to Activation of Elixir of Immortality to Untap Elixir of Immortality then Again Activating Elixir of Immortality for a total of 5 mana you receive 10 life
since the cost is 2 and tap: and not 2 and shuffle: then its on the stack twice... so...

I thought we all learned the lesson from Feldon's Cane that cards like these are not good. You might draw the cards you reshuffle, but it's very likely that you won't see them again; unless you have a recurring search engine, like Survival of the Fittest or Artificer's Intuition, putting the cards in your library cannot be depended upon as a means to get a second use of them. And a Gaea's Blessing or Eldrazi legend would be more effective if you wanted to fight mill decks.

This card adds life gain to the package, but you could probably save yourself five life by playing a card that actually helps you win the game. If you're playing against a mill deck, the opponent isn't trying to attack your life total -- what do you need life gain for?

They're selling you snake oil with this card.

Being able to reset your library at will in burn/control decks is very nice in limited. If you exhaust your bombs and you have this on the field you have a shot at getting them back. The life ain't bad either!

3/5

Great, but needs errata to cover the situation of someone other then the owner gaining control of the Elixir and activating it. This isn't the days of ante, you know.
