Really, split cards are the bane of your existence? It's not like you have to run them or anything...

Cool flavor text and not so bad effects. A very solid card. Plus: elephants!

I distinctly remember the first booster of Invasion I opened up. I loved Mercadian Masques, loved Nemesis, loved Prophecy. I was sure I was going to love Invasion.

It was the only booster of Invasion I ever opened. Seeing this card in that pack confused me. I remember thinking "is this a joke? Is this some kind of experimental token that they slipped in? AM I SUPPOSED TO CUT THIS IN HALF AND MAKE SOME KIND OF MINI DECK??????? YOU CANT HAVE TWO CARDS IN ONE. THIS. IS. STUPID." Seeing this "card" in that pack made me stop caring about magic for 8 years.

I only recently decided to click on the Invasion Wikipedia article and read it for the first time. Sure enough split cards are mentioned there, as well as the fact that they were apparently disliked by the entire R&D team. In true Wikipedia fashion there is a link to an article verifying this, an article written by none other than Mark Rosewater. In it he explains how only three people stood up for split cards when they were called int... (see all)

I hope you're jocking, SarcasmElemental, like your name makes me think. Split cards are one of my favourite mechanism, and one of the most interesting. Obviously, for flavour reason they can't make a lot of them, but it's versatile and handy. I really like to have virtually 64 cards in my deck!

And if you can't look at innovations with joy, or you can't adapt to changes, then I think that you'll always have issues with Magic. Let me guess: you got super-upset when we got 2-faces cards for the first time in Innistrad, didn't you? For me, those cards are for brillant Izzet players, not conservative Selesnya ones...

This one is quite balanced, not incredible like Fire//Ice, nor unimpressive like some others. The only "problem" is that this seems quite "basic", but I think it's an issue of all the original Invasion split cards. Maybe they wanted to keep it safe, just for testing the water. However, I like it!

4/5
