Why would this be banned in Commander? Who makes these stupid decisions? Sundering Titan is powerful but not game-breaking... especially not in Commander.

Please play responsibly. Unless you're at a tournament or something, game enjoyment is everyone's business. Blowing up everyone's lands in casual is a great way to make people not want to play with you :v

@ adrian.malacoda: Or you could just combine Deus of Calamity and this card.

@kragash: Sure, unless you flicker him or mimic vat him or whatever. Then you get to stomp all over your opponents' mana base. That might not be broken but land destruction is definitely unfun to play against, especially repeatable LD. Especially in multiplayer - in a duel you're likely to have to kill some of your own lands unless your opponent runs a five-color deck, but in multiplayer there's a far better chance that your opponents have all five colors between them.

Anyone who asks why this is banned in Commander doesn't understand the purpose of this card. It's not about casting a creature and blowing some lands up - when this shows up in Commander, it was almost always part of a combo to wipe out the mana bases of every other player at the table. Sure, that can be dealt with - maybe, if the combo was breakable - but it is miserably unfun to play against and encouraged stupid deck design since anyone can win a game when their opponents not only have no mana but can't even keep any new lands on the board thanks to poorly designed cards like this one. It was banned, and rightfully so - I don't play Commander just to watch people combo with themselves.

It's a shame there are so many ways of getting all 5 mana without using basic lands these days. Unless you're playing a large multiplayer game with all kinds of different decks, you won't ever really see this guy blow up 5 basics that aren't your own. And then you just ***ed off 3 other people who decide to gang up on you and take you out in one rotation.
Granted, it is really fun to catch a prismatic omen deck with its pants down with this guy.

This card with a Master Transmuter in a game of Archenemy will ruin everyone else's day. Especially effective if your opponents have made a point to have variety (ie, one's playing Blue control, one's playing Green creatures, and so on).

One of the Cardinal Rules of Magic;
If your friends *** you off, blow up their lands.

@Nip_Gwyllion
No, we like to physically, mentally, and metaphorically rape mother earth with this and Master Transmuter. That is of course, after we have alternate mana =P
