Submerge was a Legacy Merfolk sideboard staple in the days of Tarmogoyf and Natural Order, since it was basically a free Time Walk in the early game. Nowadays green is off the map, and Merfolk has barely seen a small resurgence even with Merfolk of the Pearl Trident. It's gonna be Junk vs. Midrange vs. Belcher for a while now.

Instant, free against green, nothing wrong about it!

I'd probably keep it in the sideboard but every time I'd take it out I'd smile.

Definitely a nice card and great for a lot of reasons like getting rid of creatures cheated in by something silly like Gamekeeper(or a plethora of other cards).
Additionally, isn't there some other card that changes lands into forests or at least on of your choosing? Or maybe you could run U/G and hand over a Forest made into a creature or something, I have no idea.
I'd use it, but few my friends run big creature decks-- or green for that matter.

A zero-mana 1-for-1 bounce. I'd take it.

It doesn't just bounce the creature, it puts it on top of their library which stalls them a turn. FOR FREE. Seems like perfect sideboard.
