It could take off the bounce and still be played. The bounce is icing on the cake, and to keep at pace with annul.

Does its job against those pesky artifact equipment decks... You pay all that mana for that batterskull or that argentum armor. I'll counter it. Pay for it with your stoneforge mystic, I'll return the equipment to their hand and hopefully kill the attacking creature that's left behind. This one didn't seem good at first, but it truly is. Especially for (U).

For the longest time I overlooked this as a sideboard option for Standard. Looks pretty good right now with all the swords, living weapons, shrines, inkmoths, pods, and whatnot from Scars block.
How cool is it that it can be either a counter or a bounce?

Great card, hits a lot of top decks where it hurts. For a common at only 1 CMC, this is an extremely powerful sideboard option.

Limited in scope, but against the right deck, brutal. Absolutely brutal.
Plus, if you're running artifacts (Like you should when using this), you've got an excellent defensive spell.

Fights Swords like a champ, countering them for near nothing or bouncing them if one is already in play.

Compare to Annul, which can get rid of enchantments but is a dead card if your opponent can slip it in when you don't have the mana open.

@Crag-Hack
You mean by bouncing a broken artifact? Vintage is broken lol.

Better in Vintage than anywhere else — one mana to counter a Lodestone Golem or bounce a Blightsteel Colossus!

It's relevant against every competative vintage deck except for manaless dredge.
