That cost is prohibitive? Are you playing the same green that I am? This can easily hit the table by turn 3. A turn 1 Joraga Treespeaker is about as much accel as you'd really need.

One of the best parts...You can regenerate your opponents creatures, too! Sometimes you just don't want their stuff to die. My buddy lost a match in the pre-release when he could have regenerated the myr that deals damage when it dies, been at 1 instead of losing, and won the next turn. Options, options.

The flavour of this card is really interesting to me. Its almost like a creature card (the last troll), but rather than participating in the battle, he is simply watching over your creatures from a distance. This is cool because trolls are supposed to be all but extinct on Mirrodin so having even one troll creature in the set would have seemed like one too many, but the creature type still gets to exist in a subtle way via enchantment instead. So yeah, in a weird sort of way this card's flavour has blurred the line for me between what can constitute a 'creature' and what can constitute an 'enchantment' flavour-wise. The nod to Troll Ascetic only heightens its aesthetic qualities.
Line-blurring makes me happy ^_^

The most common thing that runs through my mind is "Wait, play asceticism first." My friend plays a reeeally annoying deck, full of control magic and unsummons and kills and its not fun. This card really gives me peace of mind to throw out a mycoloth eating up half my elves. And it helps me beat my nemesis- Day of judgment.

This fits beautifully into the new Artful Destruction deck. Protects the Splicers and negates the downside of Precursor Golem.

Not that we need specific examples. I'd put this into nearly any green deck I could if I could get enough copies.

It's a mono-green, creatures-only Privileged Position that adds regenerate. Unfortunately doesn't protect you as much as Privileged Position, but it's easier to run in multicolored decks that don't include white. @Lorendorky: Read the previous sentence again; if you're not playing white, Privileged Position requires three green mana, which is more specific than this; thus this can be run more easily in a multicolor deck that doesn't include white; but if you have white, of course Privileged Position is easy to cast. Not too difficult to understand.

On constructed: I didn't think that anyone would run this is standard (despite its awesomeness), and then suddenly it pops up in a daily decklist. With that in mind, I am positive that no one will run more than two of this card, and the norm will be one copy or less.
On limited: I hesitate to first-pick this, as in most packs there will be at least one card that is better than this card, but if you're going green then this could be the centerpiece of your deck. Short of Slice in Twain and Revoke Existence, live Asceticism will lock down most games.

Last troll? ;_;

Does that mean Troll Ascetic won't see reprint?
