Hmmm, as a Star Wars fan, the illustration rocks (BreezyNate know why), he has first strike, a 3/1 count, and that weird Phyrexian ability (2 life or a plains). The fact that he's common makes him priceless. I threw this in a deck with Captain of the Watch.
I'm also kind of digging that sword...

for a 3/1 is... wild, even with the 2 life payment.

This card is a monster in conjunction with Captain Of The Watch a vigilant first striker at a possible two mana cost. A brilliant soldier to have in any arsenal a 5/5 for sure.

This might fit in well with my first-infect deck. Incredible as a common.
same format as hybrid mana , with lower case color first, then capitol P. See formatting tips.

Makes the 4/2 for cmc4 really bad. Maybe R&D should have give Loxodon Convert some phyrexian mana.

When I saw some article before NPH was released on this guy, I thought, holy crapp that's good! Then, I was lucky to pull one at the prerelease, and though I didn't use it there, I used it for a white aggro, and it is freaking AMAZING! Rarely drop it for {2}{W} unless I pull it in the late game

For the love of god, screw the types, screw the colour and screw the combos!
ITS A GOD DAMN 3/1 FIRST STRIKE FOR 2!!!!! >.<
That in of itself makes this a four of in any deck that is remotely aggro.

@Salient
You forgot the first strike (which covers his low toughness) and extremely relevant creature types to go along with it. This guy is a HUGE threat early on in the game and can go in any color deck.
5/5
