@cheza
White is the color of the group ("Weenies", working together, helping each other, community and so on) Therefore white is the main color for effects that are beneficial for the group: Honor of the Pure, Tempered Steel, True Conviction and so on
The flavor behind whites tapping is that creature gets arrested/imprisoned/distracted instead of killed. Just look at the artwork of cards with that mechanic in white.
The same works for exiling. Its the best way of doing white removal flavorwise. It basically "bans" a creature instead of killing it: Condemn
Also have a look at the flavor text of dispatch. The creature gets teleported to oblivion.

@cheza- you said -For me, neither "tap" nor "exile" should be white. Instead, white should be more peaceful and as MaRo once said: "A color is defined by what it can't do"... and for white this should be killing things.
Lets be clear. White doesnt kill. it exiles. And its been doing so for a very, very long time.
You also said-
BTW: Some replies mentioned a white artifact deck including tempered steel. That card is great, but shouldn't have been white.
Why is this? White loves artifacts more than any other color. it also loves enchantments. wtf color would u put it in?
Look, i noticed all your comments are either bashing a card for being in the wrong color, or putting a haste in red, or first strike in white, or congratulating R&D for getting a card right. If you want to make a difference, go to the bottom of this page and click on magicthegathering.com, go to the bottom of that page and click on jobs, and apply.

This is why your finisher should be Myr Battlesphere, kids. Grave Titan doesn't poop metalcraft.

@Cheza
Both tapping and exiling ARE white. Tempered Steel and other effects like it are also white. Seriously, learn the colors. You comment on every single card saying it should be in a different color. If you think everything in Magic is wrong then play a new game or hell go make your own game just stop complaining about every single card being out of color.

For the record, an exile that is dependent on metalcraft is NOT as good as an exile that gives the opponent life (Swords). In a vacuum it's probably better than Path, as while Path is more reliable as an exiler it always gives card disadvantage, whereas this can be card-neutral.
Don't get me wrong - potentially decent card, but definitely not as good as Swords.

I know I get low comment ratings every time I mention it, but this is one of those cards Affinity has been waiting for, for a long time. Since you should always have Metalcraft on the board, its a functional reprint of StP. And lets be frank, we did have a little bit of a hard time dealing with Tarmogoyf. And usually (not always, mind you), the decks playing creatures we have a hard time dealing with are not the ones sideboarding in Mental Misstep.
5/5 for me, no contest.

That metallic cheering you hear is every Myr jumping up & down.

So it's a Path to Exile that probably doesn't have a drawback. Yeah, turn one through three it's probably not as good, but it does let you have have 8 versions of the card in the deck.
FANTASTIC.
