I'd like to see them as a U/R tribe, since in myth, at least, salamanders are fire-related.

Haters! You clearly don't see its potential when combined with Eldrazi Conscription, Darksteel Plate, Basilisk Collar, and Sword of Vengeance!

This was supposed to be a way of testing the waters of a new creature type. You'd think they'd make the 'Salamander' posterboy a bit better if that's what they wanted to achieve.

I really like salamanders in the scheme of the four classical elementals (sylph, undine, cobalt/gnome, and salamander), so this is even more depressing than just being another pointless "limited fodder" card.
All but one of the other salamanders in the game are red, and have interesting burn/firebreathing abilities. This is a shame to the rest of its tribe.

"We apologize for making a *** limited-only common by making it hint intriguingly at our future plans."
Might be for the block after Innistrad, just to tease some more. Who knows?

Moar homarids, plx.
I see no reason there can't be more vicious lobster men - they could even be good this time!
Stupid ol'Salamander.

So, Innistrad's come and amphins still haven't shown up. There's still hope they do later in the block, though.
After all, Innistrad is a gothic horror themed set, and this thing's quite Lovecraftian.

@Salient
Whoa there! A blue creature that can be sacrificed to destroy a creature? Whoa! I'm not even sure if that would fit with the flavor!
