Old Tooth and Nail decks use to run this guy to tutor up along side Platinum Angel; The opponent would have to remove both creatures to win the game. Then, they soon realized that if they just ran two Platinum Angels the opponent would have the same requirements to win, but in a shorter time frame.
The deck moved on to other combinations of creatures, but there's a principle behind the Abunas / Angel anecdote: it's better to just run more threats than cards that protect your other threats. Your Platinum Angel (or whatever) will always beat up opponents without the help of anything else. Leonin Abunas is fairly pointless if you don't have other artifacts to protect, and is therefore less consistent. Additionally, having more Angels gives you more power to end the game quicker, giving the opponent less time to draw a removal spell to stop you. You can castle yourself in under the effects of shroud, but you still need to eventually win the gam... (see all)

Daym this is pretty awsome card. Combine this card with Platinum Angel and lightning greaves on leonin then horay for shroud. Also eldrazi monument.

I've seen a deck that ran four of these with a few Platinum Angels and Lightning Greaves on the cat.
Short of a Shatterstorm or a Wrath, you couldn't win.
