I feel that {1}{R}{R} would have been a fair cost considering it's a 2/2 with a ping ability that requires both tapping, sacrificing and spending mana to utilize. By T5 when it can finally utilize it's ability it's already relegated to a support position unlike Lavamancer, who can be using his ability effectively by T3.
