It's a bit fragile, but good if your opponent has no blockers. It's ability is at least better than the usual "This creature attacks each turn if able"

Note that if you use the Scholar on your own turn, the Brute will transform right back before you have a chance to do anything with him.

All of you realize this guy is a blue card, right?
Shimmering Wings, Wingcrafter, Spectral Flight? Blue has a million ways to give something flying, and you guys are worried about him dying? The mill is a bonus, sure, but Homicidal Brute is the side of this card that wins you games.

The 1 toughness really hurts him. They could have at least given him trample or something. Failing that, boosting his toughness to 2 or even 3 wouldn't hurt either.
