Inspired by Look at Me, I'm the DCI.
Gotta say, I was expecting something a little funkier when I heard there would be a card inspired by a card from an Un- set. Meddling Mage has already been around a long time.

I love it. I love that I can bring it back with sun titan if you have the audacity to destroy it, and name a better target. Or I can just bounce it with Venser.

Edgar Allan Poe can't be in the flavor because this is an expert expansion, so it needs to make sense in-universe. The same way, a white raven forbidding spells would be awkward, too.
But if this gets reprinted in a Core Set or as a promo, it will surely have the adecuate references.

"Then, methought, the air grew denser, perfumed from an unseen censer
Swung by Seraphim whose foot-falls tinkled on the tufted floor.
`Wretch,' I cried, `thy God hath lent thee - by these angels he has sent thee
Respite - respite and nepenthe from thy memories of Lenore!
Quaff, oh quaff this kind nepenthe, and forget this lost Lenore!'
Quoth the raven, `Nevermore.'"
They couldn't have used Edgar Allen Poe flavor text, could they...

Brutal with the already excellent gitaxian probe.
By the way guys, Wizards has a self imposed rule that direct literature references can only be in the core sets. The reasoning is that the creative guys want every inch of space that they can get for world building.
