One of the best 2 drops ever for green.

If you play mono-green aggro, you play this.

Strictly better than Wooly Mammoths.

@TheWrathofShane: You're definitely making a valid point. Porcelain Legionnaire does seem to outclass this in almost every aspect - first strike is much more dangerous early in the game, and taking two points of damage to play it on your 2nd turn shouldn't hurt you too much if you're the one playing aggro anyway.
This card is not all bad though, having trample means it benefits a lot more from Giant Growth-type spells than the Legionnaire. Lobbing five +1/+1 counters on your Companion with Increasing Savagery and swinging on your 3rd turn will often do a lot more damage than if you had done the same thing with a Legionnaire.

This card would have been good enough to be a rare in the Kamigawa days.

This card is just good design in general. It's a great card for showcasing green to newer players as well.

Everyone knows what trample is. But they decided to "remind" us anyway, not giving us flavor text.

@EvilCartographer
I don't mean to hate, but Leatherback Baloth is uncommon.
All great cards, though.

Yeah sure, Garruk's 'Companion '. Where there's smoke there's fire...
