My friends hate me when I play this card on them. It completely shuts down weenie decks and most utility one drops are out. Plus, playing this when they have */1 creatures out enables my morbid triggers like blood artist and skirsdag high priest. Play more than one of them on an opponent and lose friendships!

Played this at FNM. Cleared opponent's field on turn 6. 2 suture priests, 2 1/1 spirit tokens, and Geist-honored monk? Good-bye.

Very nice way to hurt your opponent's board without befriending a Praetor.

good example here of why black is my color. i enjoy dealing death, especially to damn weenie decks. as others have mentioned, this card is a major pain to many-a-deck. two or more of these on the battlefield downright disables some decks: lingering souls, zombies, snapcaster, most rdw creatures, humans, invisible stalker (if you can catch him before he gets pumped by spells), etc. sadly, death's hold sucks against non-weekie decks with fatties. you can swap appropriately with Mutilate or Black Sun's Zenith. if it wasn't less effective against certain cards then it would be overpowered. as steven wright says: "you can't have everything... where would you put it?"
3 is fair because:
1. it's a permanent and enchantment is the toughest type to remove
2. counters are permanent, not end-of-turn only
3. affects opponent's creatures only, not your own
4. it's black
5. there are enough damn black 4-drops
solid ability. sweet artwork. excellent ... (see all)

Ahh...my favourite way of dealing with my friend's use of Falkenrath Aristocrat.

I saw someone use this against a Goblin deck running Krenko. When this thing landed he was like O_O and scooped right there.

The Hero of Iroas likes to rely on his fists, but he throws a mean curse.
