This was a horrible card to be hit with in Invasion block limited. Very often, there was no way to come back from the loss in card advantage when it was kicked. If you're paying five for the full version, you can discard at least one land and often two, making the drawback negligible. If I recall correctly, it saw a decent amount of play in block constructed too, particularly in Collective Restraint decks.

Blightning is also better than this card. Still, Probe ain't no slouch.

Great card for the cost. Wizards tends to make kicker costs prohibitively high, so that they're only useful in limited, or in certain scenarios. But this gem is competitively priced, even with the kicker. Love it!

Of course, this is not as good as Sinkhole and Chain lightning as Krumtheslow pointed out,
this deserves 4/5.

ZursApprentice, while it is a good card it's not the best common sorcery ever. I would have to put the top five as:
1: Sinkhole
2: Hymn to Tourach
3: Ponder
4: Exhume
5: Chain Lightning

So, some Chinese guy with metal spider legs for the lower half of his body and arms coming out of his ears is "probing" Dr. Manhattan? BEST ART EVER!
