About that "pay 
for instant speed"-Cycle (consisting of Rout,Breaking Wave, this, Ghitu Fire and Saproling Symbiosis):
They actually could have made these cards have kicker easily.
Make the Sorceries Instants instead, give them "Kicker " and simply add the restriction "Counter CARDNAME if the kicker cost wasn't payed to cast it."
Would make it kind of a reverse kicker, but use the kicker keyword. Back then during the Invasion cycle it wasn't that relevant, but if these were intended to be Kicker cards it would have been preferable to have them with this wording for future cards that interact with that ability, like Rumbling Aftershocks.

I hate these pathetic bronies that have to make a reference to FIM on everything that has 'twilight' or whatever in its name.
Anyways, glad one of these came with the Izzet vs. Golgari duel decks. I was working on a reanimate deck based around Teneb, the Harvester and decided to put this in. Really fun since I play a ton of multi-player.
