Banefire = cost 4 mana for 3 damage, sorcery speed, and cannot be countered/prevented at 6+ mana.
Urza's Rage = cost 3 mana for 3 damage, instant speed, cannot be countered, and cannot be prevented at 12 mana.
While Rage lacks variability in terms of how much damage you do or how much mana you spend, it's a solid card. If you have two Banefire in hand, you may be able to kill your opponent in two turns but it would leave you tapped out, whereas Urza's would allow you open mana to react should opponent plays something dangerous. Don't forget Urza's Rage can't be countered right from start.
Banefire for straight burn, but Urza's Rage is probably a better choice for counter-burn variant as a finisher.

Such a great card, reflects Urza's power and hatred. Back in the day i hated Phyrexians, and it was a relief to see Urza hitting them so hard and fast. Yes, i know it sounds silly buy i kind a admired Urza. He devoted his life to fight that evil spawn

does not have Urza's face on it. Strictly worse than the DD version.

I have definitely used an Urza's Ragequit against insurmountable odds. It's the splashy way to go out.

Its still an instant, so not completely outclassed by banefire.
