This is actually extremely useful when you need to block creatures that you don't want dealing combat damage.
Wurmcoil Engine for example. No damage, no lifelink.

Combo with Furnace Celebration, Sun Titan or Mimic Vat or any morbid card of the top of my head.

Just by itself it doesn't do anything useful. In a deck with gravepact for example, this can be ok. But apart from that?

@Krypnyt: Yes, Hapless Researcher would be much better for a Dredge deck, and is way better for a Madness deck (Circular Logic).

Hello! does no one see this in a dredge deck???????? oh I have two Bridge from Below's in my graveyard. crack him get three Zombies and dredge six with a grave troll????????? am I the only one who see's this as Land Dredge's newest weapon?
