Decks built around this card are pretty much dead with the Return to Ravnica rotation. For a Heartless deck to be more worthwhile than just running ramp spells, you need need cards that actually benefit from the -1/-1 and colorless creatures that you can cast for free. Scars block had all the tools this deck needed: Perilous Myr, Solemn Simulacrum, Phyrexian Metamorph...
Chaining Rune-Scarred Demons like squadron hawks by tutoring up Phyexian Metamorphs was what this deck was all about.
BU Heartless loses Frost Titan to rotation as well.
Remains to be seen if there's anything in Return To Ravnica block that makes it worth playing again, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

With 2 of these out, Solemn Simulacrum reads "{0}: Morbid abilities turn on. Draw a card. Search your library for a basic land card and put that card onto the battlefield tapped, then shuffle your library afterward."

Would this make the new "undying" ability from dark ascension keep repeating. Since technically the +1/+1 counter would even out the -1/-1 given to the creature by heartless summoning.

Hmm, infinite Shock damage with Perilous Myr and Glissa the Traitor on the field? Interesting...

Powerful card designed for constructed play. But when exactly did reduction of creature mana costs become a Black feature? This is strongly out of the Color Pie.
