I don't think it's that bad. It's virtually unblockable, and in black, that's quite valuable. Plus, black is rife with ways to take advantage of near-unblockability.

On top of all that, it's got wicked art.

My new favorite card.

It's on the Reserved Cards List along with a lot of other worthless cards because it's an Ice Age Rare, which is an automatic inclusion. It has nothing to do with power level.

It should be more like a 3/3 with Poison X where X is equal to the number of Age counters on it. A 2/2 just isn't worth it.

Cool artwork at least...

So, turn one dark ritual, into it, then topdeck swamps forever.
10 turn clock on turn 1
Yeah it sucks no matter how you look at it, no idea why it's on reserve.

Now mountain goat however...

Wonder why this is on the Reserved Cards List. Must show how much I don't know about Magic...

And today's EWWWW award goes to...

But seriously. WEAKSAUCE. If it at least grew with the cumulative upkeep, it would be quite a force...

Mike stared in disbelief as his hands fell off.
From them rose millions of tiny maggots.
Maggots, maggots, maggots.
Maggots... all over the floor of the post office in Leytonstone. -Garth Marenghi

Creepy art and flavor... pretty bad card (and a rare, no less!) It seems that the designers of Ice Age were pants-crappingly afraid of evasion, not realizing that they put stuff like Incinerate, Dark Banishing and Swords to freakin' Plowshares- very effective removal, in the same set! It's really funny to see how creatures have just gotten so much better in modern Magic- a good thing, in my opinion. If you have good removal, I see no problem with making strong creatures.

Gatherer works better in the Companion app!
